Yep... 4 years ago, I was putting $1000/month in my savings account after paying off my house.

Now every month, I have to take the $1000 out of my savings account just pay my bills.

yeah i've been dipping into the credit cards way too much.
i'll have to run leaner and pay them off aggressively.

But our gov't assures us that we are much better off now than we were then...

Who the fuck are those morons kidding???

people actually believe this, too. that's why you can't trust people.
our forefathers in the usa even mentioned you can't trust people to make judgements. that's why we don't have a democracy.
The younger generation is not educated well enough to understand we are a Republic. This was established to protect us from democratic socialism. The rule of the people is frequently a failure because you cannot trust people to make rational decisions. You are right.

So, you don't think women should be allowed to vote in the USA?

Is that what you're saying? Well, it *IS* what you're saying.

You're even more stupid than I previously thought.

The 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, ratified on August 18, 1920, grants women the right to vote, prohibiting any U.S. citizen from being denied the right to vote based on sex. This amendment was the result of a long struggle for women's suffrage in the United States.

Hi Jcurtis! I am glad I get to vote. The
'Republic' might be a little shakey these days but it is still here. :)

So, I'll ask: What's the problem with women voting?

Also, times were different when the US constitution was written. The founding fathers might not have thought slavery would be abolished either (which wasn't until the 13th amendment).

Also, times were different when the US constitution was written.

Very different. Infant mortality rates were super high (I recently heard as high as 60%) and so couples had a *lot* of kids, which meant that (married) "women" (many of them teens) spent the vast majority of their time having babies and taking care of them (which was also much harder at the time). Now with infants surviving almost always these days, couples of fewer kids and thus women are more available to be (more) educated and participate in the workforce and thus be more informed on votable issues or candidates.

I suppose not allowing women to vote back then probably seemed like the practical thing to do rather than being a sexist thing.. Just seems weird to think about by today's standards.

they want socialism. go on reddit and you will see how people thought during covid where the govt paid you to stay home was the best time ever. i said no way was that the best time.

for one, that money has to come from some place. i'm already paying enough
in taxes off my paycheck to put someone in a nice apartment and feed them for a month. i'm not paying 3x more.

people are weak and want to be told what to do.
