Hello all --
I've been a Tech for over 20 years, and partly due to lack of time and lack of money never moved beyond this. An amazing friend and ham gave me a Yaesu FT-900 recently, and I've started to play with it -- listening only of course. I don't have a decent enough antenna to really pick-up much, but I've started reading the manual and studying for my General. I really want to use it for POTA and just chatting with folks in the evening as I'm able to.
Even though this rig is 30 years old I've surprisingly talked to a few folks who use this as one of their primary rigs. Anyone else? Maybe if I can learn this and save some pennies I can eventually move up to something newer -- but for now this will be what I learn HF with. Thanks for any tips or guidance.
