• 530 fiddling around

So instead you took up the fiddle (sorry about calling your violin a fiddle). Did you ever get up on the roof to play it?
Have you played the music of Fiddler on the Roof?

Whoops. Currently when reading the echo I have to
get closer than my former minimum focal distance of
6" or so and have to get within 3" to be able to read
anything. This decreases the amount of text I can
assimilate at once. So, as has been noted by others, I
might ignore the most important part of a message if
it doesn't arrive in the proper part of my visual
    field.

So. Yes, I've played the music of Fiddler on the Roof,
most recently a month or two ago. No, I've never played
it from a roof. In fact, I've heard of that song being
performed from a (mockup of a) roof once, when my friend
Stanley Silverman did it at North Shore Music Theatre -
he's done it only once on a roof but several times safely
in an orchestra pit. I have heard of other productions
where an image of someone playing on a roof was projected,
but that seems kind of hokey.

Title: Salisbury Steak with Onion Gravy
    10 oz Ground beef
    1 l Egg
1 ea Condensed French onion soup
    Undiluted divided
What about the much-honored Knorr or Lipton
dry mix? Strikes me it would make more sense.
I agree, and it is what we would use -- and adding more liquid with it.

Cheaper, gives you more control, all sorts of things.

    1/3 c Panko crumbs
    Really, any kind of crumbs.
We like Panko as a breading coating in a lot of applications. In
meatloaf type of recipes -- I don't think it matters a lot.

Panko on the outside can enhance the texture. On the
inside, its peculiar structure might trap a little air
and lighten the dish, but I'd rely on beaten egg for that.

    1/4 c Catsup
    1 tb Worchester
    1/4 ts Prepared mustard
And some standard flavorings, all to
be used to taste and with caution. I'd add
thyme of course and probably use token
quantities if any of the listed condiments.
    Of course:-}}

    Title: BURGER PIZZA
    1/2 lb Ground beef, lean
    2 1/2 Crackers, crushed
    1/2 Egg (or yolk only)
Combine ground beef, cracker crumbs, onion, celery, egg, sauce, spice
    and mix well.

At a guess, I'd substitute more egg for the crackers.
And I wonder about why that extra 1/2 cracker.

    Title: Cabbage Roll Casserole 2
    1 lb Ground beef
    1 Onion, chopped
    Salt and pepper
    1/2 c Cooked rice
1 cn Tomato soup (10 oz)
    3 c Cabbage shredded

Again a bit underseasoned, but its heart is in the
    right place.

In the movie version, there is a spot where you do see a fiddler
fiddling from atop the roof.... Dunno as I ever have seen a stage
production of Fiddler... though I did see Zorba the Greek on the stage
    (in Syracuse) once... :)
