Rather, especially the cart. There are work arounds to the paper bags
but they are very handy for other things too.

Indeed. :) We mostly use the reuseable bags now for grocery shopping, but our stockpile of paper ones does get good use, too... :) There's been legislation here in NYS to ban the plastic bags, I don't think
it's gone into effect yet, though... not a total ban, but supposedly charging the consumers for using them instead... we rarely get those...

I have a largish stockpile of "canvas" shopping bags. My local Hy-Vee
gives a 5c credit off your bill if you use "canvas" (or boxes). ALDI
and Ruler Foods charge for plastic bags. The is a move afoot to charge
for plastic bags. I've signed a petition here and there. I suspect they
will get as fas as the Term Limits petitions I've signed in past.

We've paid for plastic bags here in Ontario for a number of years now.
What's funny though? The 5 cents they charge per bag is still cheaper
then buying a package of garbage bags. So instead of using SINGLE USE
garbage bags, we use a plastic grocery store bag TWICE, once to carry
home our groceries, and once as a garbage bag.

The plastic bags are also good for litterbox duty and keeping a few in the car for emergencies. Now I do carry a couple of reusable shopping bags in the van,
including a nice insulated bag. When you live 30 minutes from the store and it's 90F+ outside, that bag is handy to have.

I have other thoughts on the subject but they would lean political. :D

I have two trash cans/waste baskets designed to use those grocery store
totes. One is a framework designed to take a "standard" stupormarkup bag.
The other is an actual waste basket with the handles designed to use a
plastic bag as a liner. For the larger bins I use liners made of corn-
based plastic which is said to be biodegradable in a landfill. I've not
checked the veracity of that statement - but it salves my conscience a
    bit using them.

We keep thermal bags in the vehicles as well for the same reason.
Other then that I don't use reusable bags. :)

I use the reusable bags (I just have two) because I don't have room to store the plastic bags though I do keep a few.

Now I just need to convince myself to jettison all of these old computers I have laying around for no reason anymore...

No recipe right now but I did cook up a bunch of hamburger with some Chili-O, garlic, cumin, and onion for burritos last night. Turned out better than I expected. :D

I did that. Threw it all out. Don't miss having a room filled with
    useless junk!

Made a chili yesterday that turned out good. No recipe as I didn't
