Yay, they got called onto the carpet. All
the better for the democratic process.
The ironic part is that 90% of the offenders were Democrats.
The only Republican I can think of on the council ordered water.

What you say? Oh, I see now. My comment was
    little d, not big d.

Many of my friends were in similar situations,
as was I - it was all I could do to barely keep
up with the crowd, much less stab enough backs
to really get ahead. what did the red queen say
in one of those Lewis Carroll books?
Off with their heads? That gets messy; I wouldn't want to clean blood off my sheet music. The guy in question wanted a wife/kids/etc. Another friend was a conducting major (he's also one heck of an operatic tenor and plays every instrument he can get his hands on) and he's also in insurance these days.

She says "it takes all the running you can
do to keep in the same place." So I never
got past the power and prestige of a talented
newcomer and stayed there for several decades.

If I worked in such a department, there would be
no sleep at night, and I'd be "around the house,"
    as the old joke goes.
Like anything else, I'm told you get sick of the stuff. Eventually.

I took a tour of the Harbor Sweets factory,
where the employees get to chow down on all
the seconds and miswraps they can eat, but
after a week or two, nobody seems to take
much advantage of that perk any more, But see http://www.comby.org/documents/documents_in_english/stefansson-diet-adventures. htm

Facebook friend at least. Pretty decent guy, if you don't count his addiction to 19th century art forms. His stuff's actually pretty
    good.
Hum. A better than average opera buff; I didn't
know there were any of those.
Not many these days, but apparently in some spots overseas it's still a going concern.

The operas that present with full orchestra
have tickets in the three digit price range
nowadays. More than the average person can
    afford to pay.

    Better than the daily g-rind.
Better than daily decaf, for certain. OTOH, parmesan rind comes in downright handy.
As a friend of mine used to say, "Oh, Lard."
Don't change the subject. The fat source maybe....

Hey - it was my subject, you're the one who
changed it. An example of the oily bird
    getting the worm?

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.00

    Title: Howtowdie (Scottish Roast Chicken)
    Categories: Main dish, Poultry, Foreign
    Yield: 6 servings

    3 lb Broiler, frying chicken
1/4 c Margarine or butter, melted
1 ea Large onion finely chopped
    1 c Regular rolled oat
    1/2 t Ground coriander
    1/8 t Grated nutmeg
    6 ea Medium onions
    1 x --------oat stuffing--------
    1/4 c Margarine
    1 t Salt
    1/2 t Pepper

Fill wishbone area of chicken with stuffing. Fasten neck skin to
back with skewer. Fold wings across back with tips touching. Fill
body cavity lightly. (Do not overstuff) The stuffing will expand
while cooking. Place chicken, breast side up, in shallow roasting
pan. Cut onions in half and arrange around the chicken. Brush
chicken and onions with margarine. Roast uncovered in 375 F oven,
brushing chicken and onions several times with remaining margarine
until chicken and onions are done, about 1 1/2 hours. OAT STUFFING
Cook and stir onion in margarine in 10 inch skillet over medium heat
unitl light brown. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cook and stir until
oats are golden brown and crip, about 3 to 4 minutes. Source unknown
M's note: howtodie - serve me this made with margarine rather than
    butter.

    MMMMM

I live in a one-party town; the only Republicans on the town council are
there because the town charter says both parties have to be represented.
Not much democracy in the Democrats around here; this is a replacement
bunch who put through some distasteful (if legal) deals with big business
in late night sessions without the general public being allowed to weigh
in. That crew was voted out en masse in the primaries.

I never got to the talented part.

Exactly. After a while, the attraction wears thin.

Too true. They used to take groups of school kids to the opera; I doubt
    that happens now.

Better duck, dude. Or the goose'll get ya.
