We've done the oven-safe chicken cacciatori a few times, what
    did you think of it...?
It was good, but we've been spoiled by the one our friend at one
of the local Italian places makes. His is better, overall. I was
surprised that the Wegman's version had a little bit of heat to
    it--not much, but noticeable.
Well, Wegmans isn't quite the "local Italian place", but they do
have a good sense of Italian... I think that may be part of the
family heritage, and they have done a good deal of research for
their Italian Classics lines.... Their jarred Grandpa's Sauce has
some heat to it... it uses hot Italian sausage, along with some
hot peppers.... That's what I generally get....
I make my own sauce 99.99% of the time, usually only buying jarred if we're camping or I'm laid up for some reason.

Yes, I know... but I'm not as purist as you... all the same, you might
like that one or other(s) in the same line... ;)

Steve had to cook for the VFW meeting last night so we made a meat
sauce, cooked penne pasta and mixed them with a ricotta/parm/egg/
spices cheese mix. Also had salad and garlic bread. I couldn't stay
for the meal & meeting but Steve said that I got quite a few
    compliments on it.

Sounds good... and I'm not surprised that you were getting compliments
on it... :) Did any come home with him...?

with tonight's supper. I also gave him a few bites of mine; I'd
gone thru the line before him and was able to get some. I guess
I'll have to make a quadrupal batch next time. (G)
And use an humoungous bowl to put it all in.... ;) Or take it
to church in two bowls.... bring out the second when the first
    is emptied... ;)
Either of those options would work. We usually have this picnic at
a local park so one bowl would be the better option--unless we
took a cooler. We'd had enough rain the previous few days that
there was standing water in parts of the park we generally use so
an executive decision was made to have the meal at the church house.
The cooler could be a good option.... :)

Probably so, as there's only the one fridge at the church house.

So a good option either way.... :)

BTW, browsing "Whole Foods from the Whole World", offshoot of
WFfthWF, put out by LLLI in 1992, saw some bread recipies that
might work well for peach bread. I'll have to do some
    experimenting........
    Sounds promising... :)

Maybe next week when my schedule looks a little less hectic. Next
Friday I'll be teaching a friend how to make pie crust but other than
that and Veterans Day activities, it'll be a "normal" week.

Ours got a bit less normal, with the winter storm overnight last
night... it started during the day yesterday, so I think some of the
local Veterans Day activities might have been curtailed... we weren't
involved anyway, though.... Richard got the necessary shoveling done,
and his usual Monday errands, today... so we should be mostly back to
normal... ;) Does your schedule still look promising for experimenting
    with the peach bread recipes...?

Might be worth picking some up to keep on hand--just in case sort of
thing. It'll get used sooner or later, either for emergency or other
    cooking.

Yes, he'd told me to figure cooking for 40 people so I did, and not near
that many showed up. We had enough left over to use for LG and the very
last is in the toaster oven right now, heating for our supper tonight.

took a cooler. We'd had enough rain the previous few days that
there was standing water in parts of the park we generally use

Probably so, as there's only the one fridge at the church house.

So a good option either way.... :)

Other one would be to run home for it but the last couple of years we've
had to help bring/return tables and chairs so better not to have to go
home. We're close enough to the church that Steve has run home for odds
and ends for the LG meal at times. (G)

Have to see what tomorrow looks like, right now, a definate "maybe". We
had a beautiful day for Veteran's Day but yesterday it turned rainy and cold--dropped from a high of 50 (at midnight M/T to the low 20s this
morning. Didn't even get out of the 30s today. The rain went thru ahead
of the cold front so we didn't get any snow out of it.

Should be some room in the pantry for ajar or two. (G)

Worked out very well but don't want to do that every month.

Having the truck does make carrying tables & chairs easy. Living near

No, probably not until after the new year, looking at the calendar for
the rest of this year. Looks super busy.
