Richard, and Fords... and Sean, Shawn and xxCarol as maybes... haven't

Shawn and Andrea are still maybes. Andrea is enrolled in university and
it will all depend if she's accepted in Sept or Jan as a start date.
(yes I added Andrea without letting you know - we should know sometime
    early August)

From our talks on the bbs, I was mentally adding her as a possible
anyway... ;) Would you be coming alone if she does have to start in September...? Or staying home to keep the home fires burning while
    she's focused on school....? ;)

Depends on my daughter's schedule too. As I'm self employeed I am the go
to babysitter of the 2 year old grandson and 8 year old boxer now. It's
not something I expected to be doing this often but life is throwing curve

That would be a drawback, to be sure... When my niece from the UK came
to my parents' 50th anniversary celebration with her 1-yr-old son, even
though he was on her passport we had issues at the border (she flew into Toronto, and we went up to pick them up) since she didn't have anything explicit from his father that it was ok for her to take him to Canada
and the states.... There were calls made and all, and eventually they

No, may have Steve call tonight. He's been busy with the chimney
since we got home from VT.
Hopefully everything is going well with his parents... :)

Dad is in rough shape. He's in the rehab facility, has major memory
issues and has fallen at least once. Other problems, but this isn't
the forum to discuss them. Keep all in prayer tho.

That doesn't sound good at all... send me an email if you wish... or
give a call... I'll get the church to pray also... :)

    Sounds like a tasty stir-fry, too... ;)
T'was tasty, and extras went for another meal for us.
Worked out well all around, then... :)
That was the intention. Should have thought ahead and made some
egg rolls--made in quantity, freeze and reheat as needed.
You had that knee to worry about, though... shoulda done it
before your trip west, I'd guess... (G)

One of these days I'll be able to do more of what I used to, but not immediately. Better I didn't get the apples in NY State this year but maybe another time.

    Thanks, and will continue... :)

OK, Steve talked to his parents yesterday. His older sister and
husband are back down in FL for the next 6 months or so; they will keep
us up to date on things.

That's very good... :) They can keep a closer eye on things, too...
and give help as needed... :)

seen them at our Lyell Ave store, even before the picnic.... :)
I'll keep my eyes open down here; I think we got some at Costco
a couple of years ago. Even if I don't put any up as applesauce
or whatever, they're still good eating.
    Maybe you'll get lucky... :)
But let me get thru this trip and rested up before I find any in
    quantity to put up. (G)
I just think you should get just enough to eat... and not worry
about putting any up this year... :)

That's probably the best idea. I want to get my sewing room
reorganised when we get back from KY; that will take time. After that
I've got a number of projects lined up (as usual).

    But of course... :)

... Am sure writing used to be larger, and stairs less steep!
Something like that seems to be hitting all at once. I'm too
    young to be this old!
Absolutely... and I know the feeling....!! ;)

Sometimes I feel every day of my age, other times I don't feel like I should be as old as the calendar says I am.

Exactly... and sometimes the body tries to make me even older than the
    calendar says.... ;0

    Hi Nancy,

I see that it took a little while from composition to sending for this pack of messages... ;)

Yes, and while this may go out fairly soon, they will gap again in the
not too distant future. Hopefully it'll be the last big gap of the year.

Prayers continue... and keep me posted... At least, it appears
that he's somewhere that can take care of him safely...
Yes, he's in the same place he was in during the spring.
Apparantly no problems with the cooking this time; last time he

Don't know, but now he's home and eating the cooking he's used to.

    Good. :)

    That's our thoughts too. (G)

    cookbook...?

    No, that's a family secret. (G) I can give you my MIL's recipe; it's
similar but not quite the same.

    except for a few "blips".
And they made it thru the blips as well... and thankfully the
younger sister was also available to be there for part of it...

Younger sister's job apparantly gives her the time off as needs
be RH>> which has been a big help. She's also racking up the frequent flyer RH>> miles.
That is a big help indeed... And is she into lots of travel
    usually...?

She and her husband usually do at least one cruise a year, sometimes
two. He used to travel when he worked for Kodak and Bausch & Lomb but doesn't as much any more. She would go on some of the trips with him,
    work schedule permitting.

Ah... so she probably "plays" the frequent flyer miles game.... and
would appreciate the extra miles going into the coffer... ;)

Don't think he travels for work as much now but she still builds up the
    miles, going to/from Florida.

That's more likely. Told Steve about the beef tips & gravy; will
probably make my own version this fall and have some stowed in
the RH>> freezer. We'll probably do some meat smoking as well--that
    gets
repackaged into meal size portions for easy meals down the road. Good ideas, both... especially looking towards a winter when you
may well need to be off your feet for one reason or another.... :)

We'll be finding out aboout that soon.

Yup... only a week now, tomorrow....

Coming up. In the mean time, I wore my brace for an extensive time
(about 2 hours) of cutting pieces for the baby quilt today. Helped
because we had choir practice at church tonight.

Meanwhile, Steve smoked 2 racks of ribs yesterday, has a Boston
butt and a chicken to do next week. I want to pick up some beef
for stew (and other uses), need to re-arriange the freezer so
    it'll all fit.

Quite the ambitious plan there.... at least most of the work is
    Steve's... ;)

On this end, yes, he does most of the work. I'll repackage the meat, put
it in the freezer and use it in meals to come. Did the chicken today, on
the grill and will smoke the Boston butt tomorrow.

Also have to make sure I take time out to cook so Steve doesn't
starve--I'll be making his annual pumpkin birthday (whatever--
cake, roll, pie) in a couple of weeks.
It's already that time of year again...! And you also need to
make sure you get your meals, too... :)
I am, trying to be good about getting ones that aren't super
high carb since I can't get out and walk that much now.
    Good thinking... :)

Pushing proteins and veggies, going easy on breads, pasta and such
like. Cooling off enough (supposed to have a high of 57 tomorrow) that
ice cream consumption will drop but I'll still go for yogurt and
    cheese.

Cheese, of course, being a protein rather than a carb... :) The cold doesn't really slow our ice cream consumption much...

It does slow ours somewhat. We get it from time to time but not as often
    as in the summer.

like I should be as old as the calendar says I am.
Exactly... and sometimes the body tries to make me even older
    than the calendar says.... ;0
That's for sure! We're pretty well over the worst of the bumps,
bruises, etc but turn the wrong way, sneeze or whatever and get
a reminder that we're not fully recovered.
Still there lurking, and probably will for a while yet....
As a reminder...........we're extra wary of traffic coming at us
    from the side now.
    Quite understandable....

A natural reaction. Same as I still "hit the (floorboard) brakes" from time to time.

    Exactly. :)

I've done that for years but am doing it a bit more so now. Sometimes a
vehicle merging in from the right will make me react more too, even tho
the accident was a result of the cab coming from the left.

They do run a video of it in the sample/cafe area; it's quite the

I can give you my MIL's recipe; it's similar but not quite the same.

I think you already did... :)

OK, it's not Southern Supreme but a good one in its own right. Much

No, because it wasn't as much time on the feet. The brace isn't

Yes, now we need to re-arrainge the freezer so I can locate what's in

then... :) Maybe the fruitcake making was an effort to cope with the situation....

Probably so. Our travel style is different--haul the camper
    around the country. (G)
    That works, too... ;)

    Yes, our mobile motel/restaurant. (G)

    Yup.... :)

I wasn't sure if you'd be sitting or standing for choir
practice... I've known some directors that want their choirs
up on their feet even for practice....

We're on our feet some, but not for the whole time. When we gathered around the piano for the last number, I grabbed a stool to sit while
    the others stood.

    Good idea... :)

Yes, now we need to re-arrainge the freezer so I can locate
what's in there easier. I've got odds and ends of various
things (fruits, veggies, etc) we'll be using up over the next
couple of months. Some of it is from cooking, say a bunch of
kale, and freezing what we didn't eat at that meal sort.
And it's good to not have that sort of thing get too buried in
    the freezer... ;)

    True, and some stuff has.

TIme to find it and eat it... (G)

The cold doesn't really slow our ice cream consumption much...
It does slow ours somewhat. We get it from time to time but
not as often as in the summer.
There's almost always a "half-gallon" container in our freezer,
in some stage of consumption... :)
Sounds like my folks--they used to have a couple of containers
"going" in their freezer--after all of us had left home. (G)
We only have one at a time... but my folks used to have multiples
going in their freezer, too... They liked having the variety... ;)

We usually don't have the room for more than one at a time. (G)

Nor do we... :) Have to finish the one before getting the next... ;)

It has been a natural reaction for so long, I couldn't tell you
when it started. Sometimes it's given Steve the warning to watch
out for something he's not picked up on.
When I do it, Richard usually says it distracts him from watching
out.... so I try not to be too obvious about it... :)

I keep aware in other ways too, especially since Steve developed the
blind spots. Situational awareness, I guess.

That's a good thing.... alerting to approaching traffic from blind spots

    Hi Nancy,

They do run a video of it in the sample/cafe area; it's quite
the proccess. Not how you would expect a fruitcake to be made.
And did you and Steve take copious notes....? (G) Or was it
complex enough to deter all but the most ambitious.....? :)

I've not watched the whole video but enough of it to know I wouldn't
want to try making it based on what could be gleaned from it. Need to
know certain things like weight of ingredients, timing, etc to be able
    to replicate it properly.

So one would have to be rather professional (or at least very
experienced) already to get anything useful from the video for even
    trying to replicate...

Probably so--they're running an ad on tv now but showing only finished fruitcakes. BTW, were you wanting one so you could compare it to your
regular? I know we talked about it some a while back.

I can give you my MIL's recipe; it's similar but not quite the
    same.
I think you already did... :)
OK, it's not Southern Supreme but a good one in its own right.
Much better than my mom's fruitcake. Last year my brother made
some, asked if any of us wanted--I declined but didn't tell him
    about Southern Supreme. (G)
You could have at least tasted his efforts... ;)

No, he would have had to mailed it--not worth the postage. He was also dealing with the last health crisis Dad had before he passed away, not
a good time for thinking about fruitcake, IMO.

It might have been still around when you went up there afterwards,
then... :) Maybe the fruitcake making was an effort to cope with the situation....

They were probably available but we had other things on our mind then.
Making it could have been a coping effort--it was in Dad's last few
weeks and coming up on the anniversary of Mom's passing. Mom used to try
to get it made by the end of October to let it age (but nevr poured
alcohol on it)-------------some years I think she made it as early as
Columbus Day. She used to complain about not being able to get some of
the ingredients (citron being the major one) unless she went to Kingston
    or Oneonta.

That's been about our highs this week--normally about 20 degrees warmer.
We're supposed to have a stretch in the 50s for the next week or so,
with less chance of rain thru Thannksgiving.

I keep aware in other ways too, especially since Steve

She made them from before I could remember, up until probably
about 5 or 6 years before she passed away. When our battalion
in HI did a family cook book, that was one of the recipies she
submitted so I do have a copy of it. One of my sisters, right
after Mom passed away, asked if I had a copy of the recipe--I
pulled out a copy of the cook book I'd given Mom, showed her
where to find it and gave her the book. (G)
That worked out well, then... ;) Has your sister made it yet...?

Not that I know of, but don't think she's that much of a baker/cook anyway. Her son used to be quite the baker, don't know if he's as much into it now that he's grown and working. Most likely, he'd be the one
    to make it.

You'll have to ask sometime... :)

I'll most likely be using one on the performance day also.
Another good idea... :) Last time I sang in the Ladies'
Retreat Choir, I sat in a chair, sharing music with a woman in
a wheelchair... worked out very nicely... :)
Worked out quite well for you. We're a small church, even
smaller choir, so there's not a lot of room for chairs on the
platform. Praise band instruments will be there as well so we
fit in on the tight side. Accomodations are made for those who
need but it's rarely more than one or 2 people that need to be
    able to sit between numbers.
We were down on floor level... maybe the last row was up on the
platform, but that wasn't all that raised... our retreats are
    held at a conference/camp site...

I see. Wednesday we were just in the front pews for rehearsal, and not
so much sit/stand/sit/stand. That was easier on the knee.

I take it there was also some room to stretch the leg when needed...?
Or is it like our church where there's a frontal in front of the pew
(holds Bibles and hymnals etc, too)...? But it would be easier to just
stay sitting and stay off the leg anyway... ;)

It will be--got some chuck roasts at Sam's today; some may be
cut up for beef and gravy.
    That sounds good... :)
Today would have been a good day for it--cold and rainy--but we
had other plans. The week is supposed to be cold and wet until
Friday, then just cold. We've got some beef, juices and onion
left over from supper the other night; I'll probably turn the
juices into gravy and shred the beef/onions into it.
That sounds workable... ;) Meanwhile we've been having snow
and winter weather advisories... and cold straight thru...

Heard/saw on tv about the storm heading up I-95. We had it as a major
rain storm, got more rain than we did from Hurricane Florence in the Raleigh area. Hoping there's no need for us to head north any time
    soon.

I don't think that storm got to us... probably just headed up the
    coast....

Well, after that, the forecast moved that mid40s further and further
down the week... now it isn't supposed to arrive until Saturday... and
we are having a chance (whoopie! [not]) to break a record cold, with
highs only about 22... At least for now they still say somewhat sunny...
and as well for Friday.... when we head down to Lydia's for her

If I remember, don't see her that often.
And probably see your nephew even less....

No, he lives at home so usually comes to family things with his
parents. Don't know if he's a fruit cake eater/baker or not.

Ah... so you'd have a chance to ask him about as often as you would
    his mother... :)

Probably so; I know he's on fb but I don't do that. He might be
interested in the Southern Supreme version but his mother would probably
prefer the one she grew up with--she's very much a traditionalist, as is
my younger brother, in the way they cook/eat.

at the very back (in front of where I sit)... But I was talking
about the thing that is in front of the very first pew at the
front, not a pew itself, but has the hymnal rack and the
cupholders and envelope/visitor cards for the front pew...
that's NB>> what's called the frontal (Richard looked it up for
    me)...

OK, we don't have that. The front pews have nothing but an occaisional music stand in front of them. Our racks on the back of the pews are
all one continuous piece, with divisions for the cups, cards, books,
    etc.

So, if you were sitting in the front pew, you would have extra space
to stretch out the legs... :)

Yes, but usually the music leader and some of his family take the front
pew on one side. The preaching pastor & his family and the church
administrator & his wife take the other front pew. I'm OK where I am, as
long as there's room to put the leg up if needs be. I could also sit on
the other end and put it into the side aisle, supported on the cane if I couldn't put it up.

But, the pews are spaced far enough apart that I have no
trouble, especially if I take the end seat. I do that in
service too, swinging the bad knee up onto the pew for support.
    That works, too... :)

It's a big help to have it supported.

    Yup.

Most of the time I'm sitting down, it is supported. Not at the kitchen
table while working tho, it's just too awkward to put it up there.

Saw that one was coming down off the Great Lakes and headed
toward western NY. Glad we don't need to go up that way this
year. NB>> I don't think we got much of that... except for VERY cold temps on NB>> Thanksgiving....

We had that, and are getting it again this week. Had a brief break but winter temps are settling in early. Good weather for rib sticking
    meals.

I hope we don't have the rollercoaster weather we had last winter....
but we are expecting the high on Sunday to be in the upper 50s... with rain....

We might actually get to the low 70s on Sunday.

head down to Lydia's for her celebration... She's hosting some
international students, and we'll be helping transport them....
Sounds like a fun time. Will the international students bring
some RH>> foods from their home lands?
No, they didn't... But they did bring tales of their food and
their NB>> lands... :) There were two from India, and one from
China... all grad NB>> students... I picked up the Chinese girl, and
then took them all home NB>> afterwards.... very interesting kids...
    :)

They usually are--what sort of food tales did they have? In talking
with a young lady from India last year (her sister married a young man who's parents go to our church, she came over to meet her new nephew),
she said that their food is very bland, boring and not very varied. She was quite impressed with the variety we have in the US, even just for breakfast.

I wonder which part of India she comes from... Our Indian students
said they had come from Mumbai, but originally were from South

TBH, I don't remember. I may be seeing her next month; she's going to a
college in the US for a Master's but will be visiting local family for Christmas.

    India... and
that they liked their food very spicy... They said it was hard to get
it spicy enough here... So when they order from Raj Mahal or Tandoor,
they ask for it to be VERY spicy.... They also buy spices from a store next
door to Raj Mahal (near Tandoor, actually, too), so that they can cook their own food spicy enough... :)

Good thing they're in a major metro area--Rochester would have things
like that. I know there's a large Indian population in western Wake
County; I think there are some Indian stores in that area, maybe even
    some in Raleigh.

A good thing... Coming home from Lydia's, a couple of deer ran
across the road in front of the van driving in front of us....
fortunately there wasn't any accident... ;)

Good thing there wasn't an accident. Deer can pop out when you least expect them, especially at twilight/early morning hours so you really
    need to keep watch.

We were going home well after dark, but this time of year, they could
be there almost any time.... :)

True, looking for food while the humans sleep.

While there's a bit of light, I'll look into the
fields as well as the sides of the road but try to concentrate more on
the road sides. Don't want to take home any fresh venison.

Lydia did once, a few years ago.... It totalled her car, but at least
she got meat out of it....

I was a passenger in a car when the driver hit a deer years ago; he took
    it home for his parents.

Ah... The typical unofficially reserved pews... ;)
    Yes, a long standing tradition.
Seems to be common just about everywhere... :)

Tho we've been in churches where it's been otherwise.

There's a bit of it at our church, but no fuss made if someone sits in
someone else's "accustomed" seat, generally.... ;)

Most of the time I'm sitting down, it is supported. Not at the
kitchen table while working tho, it's just too awkward to put
    it up there.
Find another chair to prop it up with....?
If I can get it at the right angle; I've tried that a few times
and haven't been able to get it to work well, especially with
    cutting up veggies.
Actually, I guess that sitting with a leg up twists the core
some, so that the angle for cutting is further off....

Yes, so I'd rather do my cutting while standing. Less risk of being twisted just slightly wrong enough to have a problem.

Or at least not putting the leg up... maybe propping it up between cuttings....? ;)

Got to 70 with rain. Rain is gone now and tomorrow is supposed
to have a high of 68.
We got to maybe a smitch over 60 on Sunday... and not all that
much rain... even had the sun out for a good share of the
day... :) Then back to the low 40s on Monday....

    Roller coaster weather!

So far not as bad as last winter, though.... ;)

Our Indian students said they had come from Mumbai, but
originally were from South India... and that they liked their
food very spicy... They said it was hard to get it spicy enough
here... So when they order from Raj Mahal or Tandoor, they ask
for it to be VERY spicy.... They also buy spices from a store
next door to Raj Mahal (near Tandoor, actually, too), so that
they can cook their own food spicy enough... :)
Good thing they're in a major metro area--Rochester would have
things like that. I know there's a large Indian population in
western Wake County; I think there are some Indian stores in
that area, maybe even some in Raleigh.
I'd expect that to be the case... :)
Agreed, somebody has to fill the niche of providing "comforts of
home" food to the various ethnic groops, hence all the Asian,
Middle Eastern, Hispanic, etc food stores. (G)
And it might provide a niche for work for some of the
    immigrants... :)

As long as they're here legally, it shouldn't be a problem. Might they could teach some cooking classes also? That would be interesting.

That would indeed be interesting... :)

the road sides. Don't want to take home any fresh venison.
Lydia did once, a few years ago.... It totalled her car, but
at least she got meat out of it....
I was a passenger in a car when the driver hit a deer years
ago; he took it home for his parents.
None of the 3 deer that hit either mine or Ricahrd's vehicles
was killed... and fortunately only once was the vehicle even
    damaged...
My mom hit one once, but didn't really damage the car or do
anything to the deer. No fresh venison for us.
Good on the no damage.... but sigh on the no fresh venison...
probably also good on the didn't have to deal with hanging the
deer and preparing it for keeping/cooking... :)

Mom and Dad would have had to have someone else do the hanging, prep,
etc; they had no idea on what/how to handle it. My dad was never into hunting or fishing, even when he was growing up.

Lydia and her kids did have a clue as to what to do, so I don't think
they called in any outside help... :)

Or have it all prepped and just put it in the crock pot, "instant Pot"
(We don't have the name brand one of those.) or similar prep and
ignore type cooking. That works well for us.

Those can be useful tools.... :)

We've had more winter than pre winter since the beginning of
    November.
And I think you may have had more total snow this season than we
have... I'm sure we'll catch up as the season progresses... :)
    Most likely. (G)
Still just getting small amounts... Do have a white Christmas
today, having had a little snow yesterday and a tiny bit more
overnight/this morning.... then the sun came out and cleaned off
my car for me, leaving nice fresh snow on the ground to sparkle
    in the light... :)

Pretty; our Christmas was nice--but green and brown.

Of course, you were down in FL, where you'd not expect snow.... :)

Might they could teach some cooking classes also? That would
    be interesting.
That would indeed be interesting... :)
You can ask--maybe your church would be interested in doing it
    as a group project,
That might be too much of an undertaking... there might be
something like that already in place, I'd think, with all of
the various groups locally that do work with placing refugees,
    etc...
The prospect is there, something to think about. You might want
to see if several people might want to get together in a home
    setting to do cooking classes.
Not too likely at our church, as pretty much everybody is already
    stretched pretty thin....

It was a thought; I'd enjoy something like that, given the
    opportunity.

It would be fun, to be sure... :) But one can only do so much... :)

    Hi Nancy,

Sister is very much a "stick in the mud", not inclined to
    do anything/change whatever routine/cooking/eating she's
used to. I think her SO is the same way.
Probably so... but there's a possibility, always a
possibility, no matter how slim.... (G)
    Maybe a hair thin possiblity.
    Ok... ;)

And my brother is very much the same way.

It is the way you all were brought up, after all... :)

Yes, but I broke out of it. Older brother never was a cook--relied on
pre done, heat and serve type meals. Other sister would "cook to
impress" when we visited (when we both lived in AZ), not sure what her
    normal cooking is like.

Third Sunday of the month, Steve is in the sound booth anyway--
except for this past Sunday. We had our Christmas choir/special
music during service so someone else filled in for him.
He sings in the choir, too...? Richard does our sound...

We both sing in the Christmas and Easter choirs. He does the sound
only once a month, normally, but will also fill in if needs be.

We don't really have anyone else doing sound, except in an emergency
(like when Richard was in the hospital for his bypass surgery)... So

We have several that do sound on a rotating basis--makes it nice so one
person isn't in the booth every week. Richard might want to consider
training a couple of other people as back ups or to start a rotation.

he doesn't sing in any of our "pickup" choirs... I don't anymore,
    either,
since I have trouble standing for that long.... and my voice is less dependable than it was once...

I sat for the Christmas music, looks like I may have to miss doing the
Easter choir because of the knee.

before I have to stand for a while, cooking.
You'll have to figure out something for after the surgery,
    though...
Some pre cutting up can be done in advance, as long as I watch
the RH>> time on my feet.
Or do it sitting... :) And Steve can stand to do the cooking...

Those can be useful tools.... :)

Quite--Steve made the cheesecakes for the picnic we did at your church
in one of the pots we have. It's a multi function pot--can be either a
pressure cooker or crock pot, also a rice cooker. He's made chicken
caccitorie several times in it, may have him "play" with it a bit while
he's the main cook. That, and the sous vide. (G)

No, and back home it was the same. We're having a drizzly/misty New

The prospect is there, something to think about. You might want

to consider training a couple of other people as back ups or to
    start a rotation.
He's tried, a number of times... there are a couple that work
out ok as backup, but wouldn't be part of a rotation... Sound
includes recording the services for upload and for shut-ins,
and that aspect has become more complicated over the years...
We record/upload to the church web site. Steve usually does the
upload but there's at least one other person that can. Your
church merger didn't bring in another sound person?
It might have, but I don't know if the one I think was doing
sound over there would want to do it here as well, or how
similar their system might or might not have been to ours....
We basically gained only a dozen active members, besides....

It was a thought, knowing that you just had the merger.

    A reasonable thought... :)

I sat for the Christmas music, looks like I may have to miss
doing the Easter choir because of the knee.
The timimg won't be so good after all for that, with the later
    surgery date....
I know, sigh! Have to break the news to the director in the
    next week or so.
Probably a good idea to let him/her know sooner than later,
so it doesn't come as a surprise when counting on you....

I told him--he said he could work around things if needs be, so that
if I am out and about, I can participate. If I'm not getting around, he
    is OK with that too.

Sounds like a winning situation then... :)

He's made chicken caccitorie several times in it, may have
him "play" with it a bit while he's the main cook. That, and
    the sous vide. (G)
Yes, I remember the 'instant pot' he used for the cheesecakes...
you'd just bought it, and he was still experimenting... :) And
now you've got a sous vide to play with...?
Yes, he did some lamb chops the other day. He seared some in the
frying pan after they were done. Another set went into the
freezer, 3rd set is in the fridge and will be grilled tomorrow.
It does make for tender meat, haven't tried it with veggies yet.
I think I'll not be branching out that way.... but it does seem
    an interesting technique....

Well, you know Steve and gadgets. (G)

    Yup... :)

We had rain, I think in the high 40s, and high winds... The city
cancelled the 9pm fireworks display because of the predicted
winds.... we got some snow again (just a dusting) overnight last
    night...
Smart for cancelling the fireworks--a bit of wind can produce a
lot of trouble. We're warm again, had rain yesterday and today.
Today was in the 40s again, with rain... now we're headed down
to more seasonable temps, and probably snow...

We had a high of 51 today, highs to be in low 40s, upper 30s for the
next few days. Nights are to be mid to upper 20s, with a slight chance
of snow Saturday night into Sunday. Breezy too, Grandfather Mountain
(very northwest part of state) had a gust of 101 mph today.

We've been breezy, too... but not as bad as that... :) And we did get
about 4" of snow a couple nights ago... the wind drifting it made it
hard to tell just how much we got....

    Hi Nancy,

living at home or what; we've no contact with him.
Sounds like you should ask the older son what his mom's

    No, not worth the bother.

Meanwhile, I'm not going to lose sleep over it. (G) Had a young lady at
