Looks interesting, if you can get friends to eat tofu. You should
have seen the face a friend made today when I mentioned dried pepper squid snacks.

Isn't it fun to squick people out with perfectly good food or
snacks....? (G) Richard liked to take leftover Chinese food to work
with him, especially if there were squid tentacles... there was a friend
of his that was just totally squicked out by just the sight and thought

Sounds like a good idea. Basic congee needs all the help it

    long

When the sinuses are complaining, wasabi is calling.
And very helpful.... :) Another yummy thing he makes is wasabi
shumai.... mixes in some wasabi into the meat, and then serves it
with a dab of wasabi mayonnaise on each shumai, and a ribbon of
the mayonnaise on the plate... definately one of my favorites... ;)

Nom nom nom. I just hope the meat is cooked; raw beef is one of the
few things I don't think I could eat. Too many recalls in this
    country.

Of course the meat is cooked.... Other than sushi and sashimi types of offerings, pretty much everything is cooked... :) Well, not the tossed
salad, either... (G) And even some of the sushi is cooked... :)

I buy the "matchstick" cut ginger in a jar... and when I make it,
there's always a few heaping spoonfuls of that added to the soup....
Most places I buy the congee, there's a couple dozen good sized thin

home. I can always rehome them as long as they're going to be that
    way about it.

You are much more diligent about it than I.... but I have to agree that "on-sale-with-coupon" gives a nice rush... especially when it brings it
to almost free, or better.... :)

store of course! It had a little more sechuan pepper in it
than I'd have wanted but at 75% off I couldn't yell much.
As long as it was still edible.... :) Did Mom help you eat it, or
was it too far past her heat level...?

She said something about two bites in and went back for seconds.
    (LOL)

Perhaps her heat tolerance is rising... ;) Apparently it was quite
    tasty.... ;)

And was the new thrift store productive....?

Yep, especially my second time through on Thursday. Picked up a 10k chain with a 14k clasp and an 18k cat pendant (mrow) for $10. I
never argue with karat gold at that price.

Now those are nice prices, too... :) You do have a good eye for
    finding the hidden bargains.... :)

went into my bowl of course!
You held down the spicing in her portion, I take it....? :)
It all went in. I didn't go heavy, and the leftovers didn't
taste spicy at all; it just sort of disappeared, however that happened.
Just mellowed into a nice flavor, then...? Guess there was plenty
    to absorb the spicing... :)

    Apparently so.

And you refrained from adding more....?

    The shrimp shells didn't though.
It takes a lot to melt them.... ;)

Six months in a compost heap would about do it.

    Possibly... ;)

I always say my favorite brand is "on-sale-with-coupon".
    Better yet
is the one they pay me to haul out of the store. It happens
sometimes. I got paid 50 cents on Friday to take four candy
    bars
home. I can always rehome them as long as they're going to be
    that
    way about it.

Got free pizza this week that way. The store had these "gold coins"
to use for discounts. The coins are being discontinued, so I had to
use mine up. They also had a store coupon on their own fresh pizza.
If you bought a large cheese pizza you could use both at once for a
combined $11 off an $11 pie. Free pizza.

was it too far past her heat level...?

It was pretty good. Mine is improving with the head cold. One of my

    or so.

I try. This week I bought some real gold earrings...that promptly
broke when I tried to remove the earring jackets.(sigh) They'll melt
for about what I paid, darnitt.

    to absorb the spicing... :)

One coin per item, but you could use multiples per order. They're

    nuts...
I guess not all of them are crazy, but it's common. I
    never
    had one that wasn't.
    > Our craziest cat was a dark gray tabby....

    Most aren't wrapped too tight.

This one's nickname was PsychoKitty, with good reason.... ;)

We had a vising cat I used to call Pyscho too. She'd meow and purr
at me from a distance, but when I tried to get close enough to do
whatever she wanted, she'd hiss at me.

    Chief cat slave?

I was going to say no, but, with these two, he is more than he used
    to
be with any others we've had living with us.... :) Not total, at
least.... and more so than I am, to be sure... ;)

Were they the same sex...? These two are both female... they were taken
in as feral cats by a (probably) crazy cat lady... there were six cats
there that needed to be rehomed when she died... and there had been at
least a couple of dogs in the house, too... We just brought home the
two littermates... You can't really tell by looking at them, one is
almost totally black (Shadow) and the other is a tuxedo cat with very
even markings (Spook)... (We renamed them after we got them here...)
But we were also given their paperwork from the vet, so we did get

other one came to us as an adult, and we hadn't known the family
    all that well even... :)

    Bottle kitties don't hunt.

At least not usually... nor do they do a number of other things...

Like cat mice indoors. Chase them maybe.

share a small space together quietly... and they do tend to
    share
other things as well... just very interesting to watch
    sometimes.. :)

My littermate cats didn't share too well once they got older.

Were they the same sex...? These two are both female... they were

    Yep. Females.

in as feral cats by a (probably) crazy cat lady... there were six
    cats
there that needed to be rehomed when she died... and there had been
    at
least a couple of dogs in the house, too... We just brought home
    the
two littermates... You can't really tell by looking at them, one is
almost totally black (Shadow) and the other is a tuxedo cat with
    very
even markings (Spook)... (We renamed them after we got them
    here...)
But we were also given their paperwork from the vet, so we did get confirmation of what we'd been told about them...

I've had more than one set of littermates. The first ones were a
tuxedo and a calico. The last two were a gray tabby and a tabby and
    white.

perhaps they just are more connected than most....

They spend a lot of time being together and tag-teaming him... so not
likely sick of each other... Don't usually curl up together to sleep,

Donald Trump is guilty of that one. I wish I could blame him for the
mice that get in annually, but no such luck.
