for a long time Indian mustard oil was banned for sale
as food because it had too much erucic acid in it; now
that prohibition appears to be de facto if not de jure
lifted, so maybe high-erucic canola is available now.
Apparently not, according to Jim Weller.... but for whatever reason, the Canoleo margarine was reasonably tasty both for spreading and for
    cooking with...

It seems there's "natural flavor." That can mean any number
    of things.

in your area - I remember various kinds of cheese-
spread and peanut-butter cracker sandwiches, including
one with a malt-flavored cracker that wasn't too bad.
Still available here... in vending machines and also in stores... :) Including Wegmans and BJ's, probably the others as well... ;)
I'm not sure whether to be surprised by this - or
    gratified, for that matter.
They are better than their competition, for my taste... :)

I've not done an exhaustive study, relying on
the testimony of others regarding such things.

Well, I try to put in at least half an hour to an hour
every day - partially due to a misplaced sense of
responsibility, partially because the moderator should
keep a pretty constant presence. That may be tested in
the next three busy and then Oceanian weeks, though.
Hope you find some time to spend on the echo... ;) I try to get at
least one message packet finished a day... more if there aren't a lot of messages in the one, if I'm behind some....

Well, I try, and the heavy traveling actually
encourages me to store up some replies for the
next time reliable Internet is available.

But there are thousands of ways to fix them.
I also rather like sweet potato fries... and the Terra sweet potato chips...
I like all sorts of specialty fried goods - especially
Terra taro chips, which some may feel underflavored, but
I strongly prefer them to potato.
    Ditto. :)

I wonder why that is, though.

    Cuban-Style Boniato Frito
    categories: Latin, starch, paleo
    servings: 4

2 lg boniato (white sweet potato)
    2 c unrefined coconut oil
    1 ts unrefined salt
1 ts granulated sweetener of preference (opt)

In a large, heavy bottomed pot, heat the coconut
    oil over medium high heat.

In the meantime peel and dice the boniato into
    1/2" chunks.

Insert a wooden spoon in the oil to check if it's
ready. When the spoon sizzles in the oil, it's hot
enough. Add all of the potatoes and fry, stirring
gently every 2 min for 10 min or until all of the
pieces are golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to
remove and drain the crispy potato chunks.

Place in a large bowl and toss with salt and
sweetener. Serve with your favorite dip, although
    I highly recommend cilantro aioli!

At one point, I was designated to purchase such for the office for my
massage therapist Deb... she liked to have some snacks and candy
available to restore blood sugar levels post-massage.... She later was
using BelVita biscuits for a similar purpose...

You seem to be doing pretty well... :) I'm finally running up to date
again... maybe I'll stay there for a while, as no major trips or doings
seem to be planned for pretty much the rest of the year... :)

    Simply taste preference...? ;)

... Has my cooking improved or are you getting used to it?
