From MICHAEL LOO@1:123/140 to NANCY BACKUS on Saturday, October 20, 2018 16:12:36
It happens every now and again. At least it wasn't shoved into the back of the fridge for months on end.
It did sort of make me doubtful of her
    sanity for a while, though.
Even sane people can have some weird tastes and quirks sometimes... ;)
It was after all only a temporary doubt.
    OK, then... :)
I must admit, things I make are rarely authentic... ;)
I do a lot of fusing if not fusion things, but when
they're indescribable by standard terminology, I just
    don't attempt to do so.
I suppose that could be a wise approach... ;)
It's because I try to provide a preponderance of
    good info over bad.
And pride yourself in being accurate... :)

With as much information as is available at the moment.

I'd suspect that while symphony was meant, cacophany might have been more accurate... ;) At least, I've had enough dishes where that is true... ;)
The thing is - just because people don't have a sense of
language doesn't mean that they lack a sense of taste.
    True.
No way of determining capacity in one field via
    analogy with an unrelated field.
    Again true...

My club is full of people who are successful up to unbelievably
successful in their field, and often it is assumed by either
themselves or others or both that they therefore must be experts
in everything else as well. Sometimes there are amusingly odd
results. This is the club where some people, having heard me
play, wanted to put me up as the figurehead president of the
Houghton Mifflin company, if I would go in with them on a
takeover; knowing that I was in fact not competent in these
realms, I declined politely. (That particular takeover was
unsuccessful, though eventually they made it work.)

Are they available only in ridiculous bulk? Fresh
are always better, though chiles do freeze okay.
No... when it's Hatch season, the chilies are available in a number of
forms, from piles of the fresh peppers (in both medium and hot
varieties, to packages of pre-roasted ones, to various things that
they've been baked or cooked or mixed into... In years past, I'd bought

Interesting. I wonder what the relationship is between Weggie's
    and the Hatch association.

the pepper or two fresh, and chopped them into something myself, as well
as buying things like the Hatch chili cornbread or the Hatch chili
specialty burgers... Last year I succumbed to the package of pre-roasted Hatch chilies, and, not being able to use them right away, repackaged
into baggied portions to freeze... Obviously, I packed too many together (probably one per bag would have been wiser)... and I promptly forgot
for a while (at least when it might have been appropriate) that I had
them in the freezer waiting to be used... ;) This is the first I'd
    actually managed to use them...

As I recall, Annie got me many bags once, and when I
vacated my Revere apartment I still had a bag or two
    left in the freezer.

Tonight I used about a cup of the veggie/Hatch mixture in a beef salmagundi... leftover beef stew, leftover beef stroganoff-ish, and the mixture... it still was nicely zippy, but much more edible, particularly
by Richard... no leftovers from it... :) I served it with whole-grain bread, and our usual milk... :)

    Beer is my milk.

So, probably is one of those "people's taste buds differ" things....
I never thought of myself as a supertaster, but my
preferences pretty much parallel those of people who
    claim to that condition.
So apparently you do have some degree of it...

Truth be told, I don't know what it is or whether I
have any if there's such a thing. Sort of like genius
    or clairvoyancy.

So it's three weeks with Glen (relatively good condition
though accident prone), Kevin (leg lost due to diabetes
and alcoholism), Lilli (various age-related complaints),
and Esther (polio). Perhaps you should be thankful! that
    you're not among this crowd.
Perhaps. ;) Enjoy your visits, though... :)

In the midst of the trip I can say that it's been quite
    enjoyable so far.

You do have some interesting associates.... :)

Good question... It could be from some sort of association, or even a
family connection.... one never knows.... Wegmans started out as a fruit
and vegetable stand back in the last century, maybe before even...
