Then there are the insurance companies. Don't get me started on
    those.
I think we share certain attitudes towards
    institutions like that.
I live in the Insurance, aka unsurance, capital of the world. It's the exposure.

Pretty awful distinction, almost as bad
    as that of Hayward, California.

I'd rather ride the rails in India, from the sounds of it.
If you had to, you'd probably be talking out
of the other side of your mouth.
I tend to use both. .

As with the viola player on a level stage.

Rats. Could you at least sleep through it?
Tried. Failed. Seats were too uncomfortable.
    Rats. Oh well.

It was all right - I got to witness the star's
contact mike go on the fritz.

The cats I knew ate them, in fact begged
for offal. Perhaps it was just practicing
for when there was better stuff to cadge.
Probably. Hearts and livers are the prizes, if you're a cat.

I made duck fried rice for lunch today, garnished
with the heart, liver, and kidneys.

    It's always 5 someplace.
    And there's always day drinking.
    Ah, you knew about that?
    I have degenerate friends.

    As do we all.

I used to do it too - basil, olive oil, garlic, pine nuts, and into
    the
    food processor.
Tomato sauce is also really easy to make.
I've never been able to make mine taste right, probably because I'm used to the jarred stuff.

Add too much dried basil, some Romano
(the powdered kind that smells like feet,
only worse), and a tad of sugar.

Or just a place that buys precious metal at something close to
    scrap.
That sounds like an in with a smelter. How
good are you at telling the purity of gold?
Generally fairly decent. It depends on the piece, and modern ones are mostly hallmarked anyway. I just pull my glasses down and read 'em.

I'll bet the Chinese are making alloys with
a proper specific gravity and stamping them
    with fake marks.

The chocolate covered marshmallow things can be fun, since Passover marshmallows are the only ones worth eating.
I'm not so sure that I agree. I've acquired a
fondness for them in whatever form, but only
since the diabetes. Before that I was indifferent.
I still like the coconut-covered ones, Childhood leftover, I suppose.

Had almond macaroons Thurday night - 6 of them.
So much for worrying about extra-sweetness.

    Pasta con crema di zucchine
    Categories: vegetarian, lacto, main
    Serves: 6

3 Tb extra virgin olive oil
    1 sm onion, coarsely chopped
    3 garlic cloves, coarsely chopped
1 lb zucchini, halved or quartered lengthwise
    - then sliced 1/4" thick
    1/2 c chopped fresh basil
    1/2 c chopped fresh parsley
1 Knorr chicken bouillon cube, crushed
2 Tb pecorino or Parmesan, freshly grated
    - plus more for passing
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
1 lb Rigatoni, Penne or other type of short pasta
Grated pecorino or Parmesan to taste

In a large pan, heat the olive oil. When the oil
is hot, add the onion and garlic and saute until
translucent. Add the zucchini, basil, parsley
    and the crumbled bouillon cube.

Cook, uncovered, over low heat for about 20 min
until the zucchini are fully cooked and soft.
If the zucchini seem dry, add a small amount of
water to continue cooking until soft. It should
look like a mush of zucchini. Correct seasoning.

When the zucchini are cooked, place the mixture
in a blender and puree to a smooth sauce.

Bring the water for the pasta to a boil, add salt
to taste, and cook the pasta until al dente.

While the pasta is cooking, place the sauce in a
large pan, and add the grated cheese. Mix well.

When the pasta is ready, drain, and add to the
sauce, raising the heat and stirring until the
pasta is well coated. Sprinkle with more cheese
    and serve at once.

I think Hayward has it better. Fewer non-taxable buildings and their
    product smells less.

Throw the oregano in the trash where it belongs?

    Sometimes macaroons are required.
