From MICHAEL LOO@1:123/140 to NANCY BACKUS on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 08:13:50
One wonders about just about everyone. One
of the vocal soloists came in I believe a
bar early, and we had to stop the aria and
    start again.
    In rehearsal or in concert....?
Sadly, everything had gone okay in rehearsal.
Oh, no.... I trust everything afterwards went fine....?
So far as I could tell. I think there may be
    a recording someplace.
    Documenting the oops... ;)

Nah, the oops part will likely be excised
    before any kind of distribution.

... You don't get once-in-a-lifetime offers like this every day.
I have once-in-a-lifetimes every year or so.
    They actually may be once-in-a-lifetime.
You do move in rarified circles.... ;)
    Sometimes.
    Enough, anyway... :)

Well ... the dinner I went to Thursday was
typical - dominating the conversation was a
woman who though not amazingly musical nor
amazingly rich is amazingly self-assertive -
she used to be on the board of directors of
the Boston Symphony and the chief exuctive of
the Cabot Trust. The rest of the guest list
went downhill or uphill (depending on your
    perspective) from there.

It's interesting, sort of neat, how the fats come
out of your pores - I always had oily skin and hair.
Balances things some when one ages and everything starts to dry up... ;)

I know not much about that stuff, nor is it
of major relevance until my skin cracks, which
it has started to do (we went from record cold
to record heat and back to average).

Did the beasts eat dairy products on their own?
I don't think so, not her beasts.... Just kibble and can food... and boughten cat treats... the last two not being on our list... she might have tried them with cheese, though....
So maybe unfamiliar with the joys of butter?
    Quite probably. :)

Raised them wrong, Or perhaps right - I knew
a guy who always thought he hated lobster, and
his parents didn't try ro disabuse him of that
notion - it was much cheaper that way; eventually
he figured it out, and much time was made up for.

Fur candy, I kind of like that.
Richard's designation... and his invention, so to speak, as he was the
first to wipe something into Little Bit's fur... as he tells it, she was practically begging him to share whatever it was, and acting like that's where she wanted it... and when he complied, she happily groomed it out
    and asked for more...

    Clever, these Backi.

certain veggies in certain circumstances, too, like spinach mixed with cheese from a spinach ricotta pizza... ;)
That doesn't count! That's like buttering a slice
    of zucchini.
Not really... and more than one of our felines has actually liked the spinach, even straight... :)

    Hum.

The question is mainly whether the original
phrase appeared first in the comic book before
it became the watchword, if you will, for the
TV show. So maybe we should take advantage of
that postulated cyclicality and go back and see.
As you are in more of a position to do... :) At least by doing a
    modicum of research... :)
And the incentive is ... ?
    Clarifying knowledge....? ;)

Contributing to the massive corpus of
"junk we keep"? I'll leave that to someone
    else, thank you very much.

I concur, and shepherd's pie can never have
    too many shepherds.
Ummm... yeah.... I guess so... (G)

And would there be real fishermen in that...? ;)

I was drawn to that title by the lack of
    an apostrophe ess.

Title: BOTSFORD INN'S HONEY BAKED HAM WITH CUMBERLAND SAUCE - DK
Categories: Holiday, Di, Main dish, Ham
    Yield: 8 servings?

    1 Whole or half ham
    2 c Pineapple juice
    1 c Honey
    1 c Brown sugar
    1 qt Hot water
    1 c Currants
    Thinly peeled rind of 1
    -orange
    Thinly peeled rind of 1
    -lemon
    1/3 c Cornstarch dissolved in
    -1/2 c water
1/2 c Firmly packed brown sugar
    Juice of 1 orange
    Juice of 1 lemon
    1/3 c Red currant jelly
    1/4 c Port wine
    Black cherries, if desired

Place ham in large roasting pan and pour pineapple juice and honey
over top. Sprinkle with brown sugar. Bake at 325' two hours.

Meanwhile, to make sauce: In large saucepan, pour hot water over
currants and let stand until plumped, about 20 minutes.

Cut orange and lemon rinds into very fine julienne about 3/4 inch
long; poach in simmering water 20 minutes. Drain, discarding water,
    and set aside.

Stir cornstarch mixture into currants and water; cook, stirring
constantly, over medium heat until sauce has thickened and become
    transparent. Add brown sugar, orange and lemon juice, jelly and wine;
stir until jelly is melted and add prepared orange and lemon rinds
and black cherries. Serve warm over ham slices. Makes about five
    cups of sauce.

Di Note: The Botsford Inn is a very nice, old fashioned restaurant
located in Farmington, Michigan. I had this there and really liked
it and managed to squeeze the recipe out of the chef.

Cracking skin is not a good thing.... needs a bit of moisturizing....
And what is average heat where you were at that time....? Or were the
record heat and cold different places...?
