From MICHAEL LOO@1:123/140 to NANCY BACKUS on Friday, December 28, 2018 19:45:42
brought a bag of Utz's sour cream and onion
chips, which turned out to be fine, just as
fine as before. I was somewhat gratified.
It is reassuring when that happens... :)
A little sigh of relief is a good thing sometimes.
    Indeed. :)

    We all need 'em.

But the point of such (unless they're really
outrageous to be funny, like T.G.I. Friday's
or Chuck E. Cheese or Jim's Aloysius McGillicuddy,
is that the people who would be swayed by such
things would like to believe or at least imagine
that there's a benevolent home economist housewife
    behind the products.
Ah, but many of those would believe in the outrageous ones as well...

    What did Mr. Barnum way?

    With the current cultural
mi-mi-mi tendencies, we can expect more
real-name brands to be coming to the fore.
No reason to doubt that Newman's Own is really Paul Newman's company,
    for example.... :)
I have no evidence other than a few clips out of
Hud or Exodus that there ever was a Paul Newman.
I've seen a bit more than that.... ;)

There are numbers of famous actors any of whose
work I've never seen. I've never seen a whole
Bogart movie, for example. I can't tell the
    difference between Kevin Bacon and Kevin Spacey;
luckily I can tell the difference, vaguely,
between Kevin Spacey and Sissy Spacek. I have
seen only one movie in its entirety that has
starred any of those three, and I am not sure
whick Kevin was in it. The movie was Animal
    House.

might expect a disgrace, but what does one do when
having diet-restricted people over for dinner?
Serve something other than pretend ice cream....? ;) The Turkey Hill
All Natural flavors are a bit richer, and haven't any of the extenders (also not the fat-free sugar-free).... :) I realise that it wouldn't do for the diet-restricted sorts....
It seemed worth a try based on the name, but on
    sampling, not so.
I guess it was worth a try... I think I did used to get that vanilla for MJ... and she never complained... but then she wanted her ice cream even
    if it wasn't quite real....

There are a lot of things I want, even if they
aren't quite real. Turkey Hill fat-free
    sugar-free isn't one of them.

There once was such a recording where one of the
cello ensemble parts was sour, and they excised
the offending member, and I was called in to play
the part on the viola and have that dubbed in. So,
yeah, as good as possible, not as accurate as
    possible.
A bit of a mind-boggle... but I'm sure you did a creditable (although
not credited) job... :) Apparently it was all in more of an upper cello range....?

Yeah, though now they can change octaves
    in the studio no problem.

Not a complete loss, then.... :)
Dessert, some kind of traditional Italian
    compote, wasn't bad.
Enough to make up for the rest....? :)

    Har, what do you think?

There was a period of time when we were taking in a lot of Saturday

And you are also more discriminating than MJ was... :)

I suppose that makes sense... probably just a matter of pushing a
    button....

    I'd guess not really... ;)
