So having heard some disquieting things about the state
of the climate down under, I inquired about our friends,
and this is Glen's reply -

No problem. Top was 46.6C, but it had been down to
24 at night, so I sealed the house and ran my little
wall air conditioner once the solar panels provided
enough power. That kept the temp down to only 32C.
Some areas suffered power outages because of over-
heated transformers, but apart from that, our
renewables and a few spare diesel sets kept us going.
I tried walking out in the sun, but the heat came
through the soles of my sandals. Even objects in the
shade were too hot to hold.

In 1937 we had a day that hot. I had just had my
tonsils out, and my throat was sore, but my father
used 2 tin cans to make a freezer, using ice and
salt. That enabled my mother to make ice cream to
    soothe my throat.

I have been watching the effects of extreme cold in
your part of the world, on TV. I think I would be safer
    here!

Thanks for checking on them.... :) It's good to know that he's doing ok
in that heat.... and enterprisingly using his engineering skills... :)
