    are 3 aisles over, I think... ;)

    No one bakes any more.

Or at least a lot fewer than there used to be... :)

Birthday cakes and brownies are about the limit unless it's a holiday.

By the time he came to live with us he'd outgrown the ornery...
    mostly
    anyway... ;)

    The stubborn of course, well....

Yup, kept enough of that to keep him going for another four years after
he came to live with us, already along in years... fourteen when he came after Gram died...

I went to a friend's house this afternoon to pick something up; her 17 year-old cat decided I was OK. I scratched half a cat's worth of shed fur
off of him. His mom is undergoing chemo and can't do it herself.

    It's one of their jobs.
And they are glad to do it... :)

    And the lady cats cooperate.

But of course... it scratches their itch... ;)

Or something else. Now if only he'd bring home the cat chow too.

My mice might have eaten it before they were deactivated by the traps.
Only if you left it lying around... ;)

I left the traps laying around too. I seem to be temporarily out
    of
    mice.

That's a good thing... This time of year, they're more likely to stay outside anyway... ;)

More likely. Which doesn't explain the one I just nailed under my kitchen cabinets. There's a mouse racetrack under there, and I found mouse
droppings on the pull out cutting board. It's rarely used. Three tries
    with different traps later...snap.

Cats have been known to walk up to the door and say "In. Now."

Not so much here... though it did happen more than once to our neighbor
next door before she gave up the "feeding station"....

I never had a feeding station, just cats who wanted in.

What a foolish mouse.... Up at our camp, we do get the mice and the
occasional chipmunk, even in the summer months... But then, when my son
was spending a lot of time up there, he had a mouse he was actually
feeding indoors... thought it was cute, or something...

That only really happened to us once, when the next-door neighbors
moved, and left their cat behind... we didn't end up adopting him, but
he tried real hard to get us to... finally another neighbor down the
    street took him in...

The only cat from our neighborhood we took in was a little kitten that
someone else rescued from a fence or something... the kid's family told
her to try us or our neighbor (the one with the feeding station)... he
wasn't even weaned yet, so we found a wet nurse for him (a friend of
ours had a couple nursing mothers) and took him back after he was
    weaned... ;)

He'd had practice. It sounds like he was also ornery enough to
want to kill them for invading his territory.
Probably... and the orneriness was reserved by then for the mice... didn't show much of it to anyone else... except for Cougar... ;)

Who was the other male in HIS territory.

Or at least potentially in his territory... :)

And he was warned off. MINE, said the cat.

    different experiences with the critters....
I alas have no outdoor cat to take care of matters.
    Guess you need one...
Or two. A nice bobcat family would do nicely.
There might be other drawbacks to a bobcat family, though....

If they'd eat the chipmunks, squirrels and small dogs I'd live with
    it.

Indeed... The owners of the small dogs might not be quite so sanguine
    about the bobcats, though... :)

Girl cats tend to take off, unless they live in the same house. Then you
    get a cat spat.
