We're still not sure about the location but
    check in here periodically.
I guess what I had meant to say is that my adversity to driving (for me) a long day's drive is pretty much gone. I could make it up to northern
    New York
-- in Nancy's neck of the woods -- within 12-13 hours. The longest
    part of
the trip for me would be driving through Virginia on I-81.

Your message fit in nicely with the discussion of a
year or two ago about having a picnic in central
    Pennsylvania - Williamsport in fact.

Excellent, but I see the prices creeping up again.
Thankfully, I am now doing well enough financially to absorb a one-time expense for gas. I've been waiting 20 years now to go to an echo picnic. I'll make sure the price of gas isn't something I'll worry about too
    much (I
hope; it's already $4 in California).

It's been nudging up against $4 in California
    for a long time.

[No recipe as I'm connected remotely.]

And there's no real requirement for a recipe,
    so don't worry.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v7.07

    Title: Kali Dal
    Categories: Indian, Vegetarian
    Servings: 8

1 c Black whole gram beans
    2 tb Red kidney beans
    1 c Chopped onions
    2 tb Chopped ginger
    3/4 c Chopped tomatoes
    1 c Water
    1/2 ts Ground cardamom
    1 tb Ground coriander
    1/2 ts Red pepper
    2 ts Salt
    6 tb Ghee
    4 tb Ghee
    1 1/2 ts Cumin seeds
    1 c Minced onions
    1/4 c Coriander leaves, chopped

Wash the gram beans. Place both the gram beans & kidney beans in a large
pot. Add 4 cups of water & bring to a boil. Turn off heat & let sit for
    2
hours. Add the onions, ginger, tomatoes, 1 cup water, cardamom,
    coriander,
pepper, salt & 6 tb ghee. Mix well, bring to a boil & simmer for 4 1/2
    to
5 hours. Keep the heat very low so that you maintain a bare simmer
    during
    the cooking period.

After cooking, remove 2 to 3 cups of the beans & blend them till smooth.
Return to the pot. Keep the dal on a low simmer.

Heat ghee & add the cumin seeds when ghee is very hot. After 10 seconds,
add the minced onion & cook gently for 10 minutes, stirring constantly.
Pour over the dal & mix in the coriander. Simmer till heated through.

Serve with Royal Vegetable & Rice Casserole.

Oh, okay, Well, if it ever came to pass, I know the area pretty well now.
At least to be able to find supplies and food when I am up there during my evenings off! I normally stay at the Holiday Inn there downtown.

It's been nudging up against $4 in California
    for a long time.

Out here, it's around $2.50 in the sticks. Thankfully, when I travel, the company pays for gas because it's always expensive right off of the
    interstate.

I have moved my laptop back to Slackware Linux so I am readjusting
everything. I have moved my Windows 10 install into a virtual machine where
it lives happily. Soon, MM will be available on the laptop.

I love my Chromebook but I need more capability when I'm on the road. The
one thing I missed was my offline mail reader setup and the larger keyboard. I'm on my HP Elitebook 840 G1 now and can type comfortably.

    Later,
    Sean
