Retropie is a really good option for an inexpensive system. Because I not only wanted to play all the retro stuff I also wanted to play many of my current games I went with Ryzen 5 system with a 4tb HD for the 10,000 plus games I have

on it current using Launchbox/BigBox as the front end. I built my own two player cab using Ultimarc joysticks/trackball and controller. You can get all the stuff to build a decent bartop or stand up system from Micro Center.

Thats really cool. For me, the Pi 4 is almost enough to do everything I'd want to - and I have eyes to build a simple two-player joystick box... nothing too huge - I have ideas of making like... a portable 'suitcase' or 'guitar case' setup... that has a lid and a handle - can travel... and inside is a nice two player setup and a Pi 4...

One day... so many projects. OMG.
