After spending consider amount of time today comparing features between the primary bbs packages before I take the plunge back into BBSing from scratch, I have to admit that Mystic has progressed in leaps & bounds in the past 5+ years. Thinking back to the late 1998/99 & early 2000 status, when I think g00r00 departed for higher education, wow! What a significant push to critical mass!
Would it be better to start off with A38 release or A39 stable enough to build from scratch?

IMO, It would always be better to start with the newest stable
release (A39).
There were a few bugs that was fixed in A39. You won't be
disappointed!
g00r0r has put in ALOT of work recently, alot of 'on the fly' stuffAbsolutely! Lets not kill the guy, somebody get him a beer & a bag of chips! Gotta get those carbs flowing back into the fingertips!!
we asked
him to add, to the point he's a little burnt out. I must admit I
prolly
didn't help matters :( He's been on a 'break' for a few weeks now.
his
box(es) was giving out after all the work he put in, and as far as I
know
he's taking a little break. He did it at a good time, Mystic A39 is running
like a champ for me! (under Ubuntu/X64) It does EVERYthing I need and

I think I am at the point of "how do I do this" & "hmmm, I didnt do that right..." But I finally discovered a reason to buy a Raspberry PI!! Thanks Mystic, my wife is mad at me, again...
Once I get the PI setup & the bbs moved onto it, I will be ready to put it online.

REALLY
feel old! ;) Just imagine, what our grandkids will call 'old' when
they get
close to our age! Technology has jump so fast since we were in our
teen
years. You don't even have to touch your cellphone and do stuff,
text, GPS,
etc... It's crazy, I told myself I would never be dependant on my
phone, but
it got me! :\
If it doesnt work out, I will stick a "Hole" on it or turn it into a firewall... For the price I figure it will be a fun gadget to have around.Once I get thePI setup & the bbs moved onto it, I will be ready to put PK> it

I was thinking about getting a PI too, but I've heard it has issues
with
running DOSEMU/DOS doors. I have alot of DOS based doors on my
bbses. I
still might get one, heck, for the small footprint and they are
pretty cheap.

was pretty rough but after a month, I really not missing it...
See, I use my phone more for a GPS/naviation and for bus routes in my area,
more than anything. I CAN go without the social media part, it gets
boring
hearing someone cry about a BF/GF or seeing 'cute' animal pics :(
I order the Pi-3B? from Amazon. If it doesnt work out, I will stick a "Hole" on it or turn it into a

Exactly! Same reason why I wanna get one, I think the one I wanna get
is the
Pi-3.. I'm gonna look more into it though when I AM ready to get one

I normally am processing user requests with morning coffee...
Someday, after i pass the CEH, if I should ever survive the online training, I will put it to good use & save the world with images of grandeur!! It will end up in my sock drawer in a matter of weeks- but
at least I GOT one! :-)
