it was gated from the newsgroup side of this area from a shaw cable IP address, 96.48.151.84 ;)
The Millionaire quoted a full message that was gated in from usenet written by "Anonymous". I'm guessing he addressed it to Digital Man with no context to try and get him to do something about it, because it huwt his fwagile wittle feewings.
The result was what you saw, a pretty insulting message directed to DM, because The Millionaire is incapable of adding context to his messages.
Heh, yeah - it's not like this pot needs stirring at the moment. Annoying though he is, I don't want him to be blamed for stuff he didn't post. Only leads to more confusion.
Was a clever way of impersonating him, though, since he normally posts from Vert. I think I noticed this a few months ago, so whoever's doing it has been doing it for a while.

firewall temporarily, some permenant all the time. His two posts just didn't make sense.
Something doesn't make sense there. Either you were running a bbs
and someone connected to it as guest or, running your bbs on a
private network and has no public ip to connect to, can't be both.
I think he meant that he hasn't advertised it in a
meaningful way. However, port scanners that target
run continuously will just automatically try to
login to anything resembling an interactive system
as a bunch of different users such as "guest", "root",
"admin", etc. He probably saw that....
It's just part of the background noise of the Internet
at this point.

Something doesn't make sense there. Either you were running a bbs and someone connected to it as guest or, running your bbs on a private network and has no public ip to connect to, can't be both.
