While using syncterm I noticed references to ansi music. Are there any boards with it enabled? I'm sure the sound isn't too awesome but I'm curious.

It depends on the software that has it. GT Power decodes the ANSI commands, and you can hear it over the PC speaker. Originally for
dial-up, it's now telnet capable, and free for non-commercial use.
Had it also had email, FTP, and a website, I probably would've gone
with it instead...as I ran it under dial-up for 13 years.
I do have one of the doors that ran under GT Power, now running under Synchronet, because of Synchronet's feature that will allow non-fossil doors to run under telnet. I haven't tried to see if that ANSI door
will work. The door was originally designed to benefit the Make A Kid Smile Foundation.
Thanks for the response. I actually found a website that hosts a dos program that plays ansi music and hosts a bunch of ansi music files. So
I downloaded the
program and ran it on dosbox. Downloaded a few music files. they're incredibly small and it reminds me a bit of 1 bit music from the
chiptunes scene.
I think it has more potential than it has been given.
Anyone here experiment composing this format anytime recently?

With some of those ANSI files, the ANSIs move with the music.
Oh? I wish I was a good composer of music. I just suck at it. Listening now to 'Frozen Beeps' by the impulse project over on quantum radio and it's impressive how the composers used arpeggiated sounds to make it
sound good. I'm going to try ripping off some chopin or haydn and try
my hand at making ansi music. But then, I'm just learning about it.
