I'm on a long bus trip and am using an Android device running a DOSBox session with Telix and Bluewave. the system is working well, except
that when i go to upload replies using Zmodem with Telix, Synchronet complains that it can't open the .rep (in lowercase) file.

Please paste the error message here. Synchronet uses case-insensitive filename matching, so that shouldn't be an issue.

    Telix sees it as .REP.

    That shouldn't matter.

Using Ghost Explorer, a native Andruod file copying utility, to rename
and then transfer the .rep using FTP works fine.

I'm running a recent (jan 1) build under Raspian on a Banana Pi. Could
this be a case sensitivity issue on the BBS end?

It could be, but I would need the actual error message to know where to look.

That is easier said than done. :( I'll have to see if I can do it from DOSBox on a PC when I get home.

It could be, but I would need the actual error message to know where to look.

That's going to have to wait until I get home, certainly can't do a text paste from the phone. A screenshot is possible, but then I have to get it to you. :)
