that:
The CISCO phone I have is used with a party line setup for amateur
radio operators called "HamShack Hotline". The service is free, but you have to purchase, and "provision" the phone.

I'm on the HHX server, using the VoIP PBX in my router. :)
I only have a couple of contacts in my HamShack Hotline address book right now. But, with the death of my Mom a week ago, I've had far more important fish to fry.

I'm getting a bit like that, with a very close friend who's been in and out TL>hospital with cancer. Got some more bad news today. :(
As for HH, I haven't used it beyond testing with some of the conference TL>servers, but I figured it might come in handy sometime. It's setup to work TL>alongside my other VoIP services.

I don't think any family has escaped that scourge. I lost an uncle to colon cancer...my grandmother to lung cancer...plus my Dad and his
sister to pancreatic cancer. My wife died of a heart attack (she had a defective aortic heart valve since birth), and it was congestive heart failure that killed my Mom.
Not to be macabre, but none of us is getting any younger.
I've got to get with a fellow ham via HH on an issue I have with my Lenovo Laptop with Windows 10 64-bit (the BBS computer, and what was my late Mom's computer, have Windows 10 32-bit). It sees the wireless
mouse, but it doesn't respond to it...depending on the thumb pad
instead. At least it recognized the external keyboard.
I originally had a laptop with Windows Vista Basic, that I got at a
good deal at a regional hamfest. I was able to put Windows 7 on it, but
it crashed when I tried to put Windows 10 on it.
Yes, both Mum's parents died from some form of cancer. Lung cancer in the c TL>of my grandmother, and bone cancer for my grandfather, IIRC. On Dad's side TL>the family, his father died from complications of heart surgery. Can't reca TL>what his mother died from.
True, though I should have a fair few years left. :)
Ahh, OK. well HH is ideal for those international calls between hams. I TL>remember fury rigging things through VoIP at cheap rates, and at one stage, TL>did have an extension on a PBX that a friend ran in the US, but now HH can f TL>the bill for a lot of these things. :)
I probably should upgrade this to Windows 10 sometime. It's been running TL>Windows 7 since I bought it. Windows 10 hadn't quite been released then.

Probably because their heart stopped. :P

I would hope so as well.
Some Net Controls use it similar to the D-Rats application on nets,
as a chat room with the NCO's -- especially considering security issues with the Telegram app.

The ONLY reason I upgraded, was because of security issues. Yet, 10 boots faster than 7 did.
No, from memory the complication was actually in the bowel. It's been 25 TL>years, and I can't recall the details now.
I'm in pretty good condition for 51 too. :)
Yeah, that would be a good use for the HH system, though for me, text mode TL>allows a more full duplex operation - I'm capable of reading while actually TL>air, while it's harder to handle multiple voice sources.
Yeah, the Windows 10 machines I've used have run very well.

Sounds like a twisted colon.

And, I thought I was a puppy with turning 60 next March. <G>
Telegram had some security issues recently...and after a falling out with net controls on the VoIP Hurricane Prep Net, and the Southeast US D-Star Weather Net over "early checkins", among other things, I
resigned as Net Control. I do the D-Rats checkins on the Southeast US D-Star Weather Net, but no longer monitor the voice reflector during
the net.

Once you get everything working OK, all is well. Of course, Microsoft comes along with an update that FUBAR's everything. :P

When does it expire?? :P

My condolences on losing your mother.

Just a quick note on HamShack Hotline, I have only used once or twice
to talk to a "local" ham on his mobile phone while he traveled home to Bakersfield. I rarely talk on the phone, except for work and family. I have a CISCO IP PHONE 303 provisioned with three different services. HamShack Hotline is line 1, The second "line" is onethat the boss pays
for as part of the cloud-based phone service he requested several years ago (cut costs from over $500 monthly to about $700 yearly). The third
is another one through SIP.US.
