I read that if you dual boot Linux with Windows that the GRUB can be erased. Is this true? How will this affect Synchronet BBS as well?

Although it seems like a silly question, I've had windows installs blow away my linux boot partition before... I usually install them on separate drives without the other connected at install... then use the bios boot selector on the rare occasion I need to get into windows.
Have you considered FreeBSD or HaikuOS?

I've always thought the general advice was to install Windows first and install Linux second. The Linux install will generally install Grub
and add menu items for Windows and Linux.

I suppose Windows Update could potentially remove Grub, particularly with Windows 10 being stubborn about installing updates..?

Is Haiku even mature enough to run something like Synchronet?

It was mostly a joke.
Not sure about Synchronet, but the author of MagickaBBS has run it off and
on under Haiku.

Not true at all. There have been many *nix only bbs software packages written over the years.

*nix-compatible maybe, but I think he meant Magicka running only on
Linux and no other OS. I could be wrong though..

Seriously. 9 time out of 10 you post misinformation from MX Linux to Linux BBS software. But in the futile hope of shutting you up, MBSE. Care for a list of other? Use Google.

yep... since at least 1989 for the DOS version... the *nix one was out before then...
I'm not sure what that has to do with anything? I have an autoimmune disorder that has plagued me for over a decade including multiple surgery. I guess I am also a sick man.
I am just correcting the misinformation that you are posting. A bit of homework before you assert a fact would alleviate all of this.

incorrect... the DOS version was created because some DOS folks wanted to run it and Tom Dell accommodated them in that respect... the original Waffle BBS was scripts on *nix that the user was signed into like signing into bash, csh, or zsh...

that's not surprising, really... the entry from the bbsdocumentary site is the closest, though...

so my statement above wasn't exactly correct but it was correct in that DOS was not first ;)
