    ### - if ya can spare 35 minutes, have to listen to old william burroughs' ideas on a few things, including lucid dreams & life after death etc...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcdXmjHmG08

he was rather strange hehe, or is it perhaps just us that's strange while
    he's actually normal?

he lived a very interesting life anyway + ya don't live to his age on such
a road without learning a thing or 3 i can tell ya ;)

imho burroughs was the business; and an example of what a western man can
still achieve without going all weird in the process...

    ;)

a little on the dry side.
    and so ?

    ### - he was a proper dude + just depends on what people consider to be
    proper? ;)

(i.e., there's not many people walkin' around on this planet that ever
really 'know' what they're actually doin', imho he was defo one of 'em...)

and as such was a gen-u-ine american hero!

the question being: what is the best a human being can be, and what does
    it look like ;)

Slider you know there has been about 108 billion
people pass through this place. The best we can be?
The best is to stay alive, not be homeless, have a
couple bucks in your pocket (that's metaphor) not be
dying of cancer of some other deadly disease, live a
life of doing the right thing, not be a doucher, pay
your bills, remember to keep laughing through all the
ups and downs. Live a life of little regret, get some
exercise everyday, keep your mind sharp, and have sex
with as many people as you like. j/k on the last one.
remember to wear a condum. don't follow leaders. and
    pay all your parking tickets.

    ### - some, like bill burroughs, would have said that that was the worst
    we can be?

all livin' like indentured slaves and grateful for it?? (well gee thanks!)
    :D

worked to death for some obscure cause that's absolutely nada to do with
them or their own personal evolution? actually totally 'indifferent' to
    their own personal evolution!?

i mean, is that really any way to... live?

    call THAT a dream??

what 'is' true, however, is that not many ever 'wake-up' from that dream!

and will thus never understand their life as a result! will never be truly independent!

ya lived, ya paid yer' taxes, and ya died... end of story... next!

what you've described above being merely the soap-opera-version with replaceable actors hehe ;)

    that's only wallyworld! :)

there's far more to life, the universe & everything than wallyworld ;)

what were we doing here and what am i doing here?
the only real question to ask. No one knows the answer.
amazing, 108 billion and no one knows.

    ### - but some people do know! (so-called 'enlightened-beings', although
just what that means in different societies & cultures varies wildly
    heh...)

burroughs didn't look much but was defo one of them, and/or knew as much
then as it's humanly possible to know and still be alive...

there's been others, lots of others... all of which start to stand-out a
mile once you begin to recognise the mark hehehe ;)

burroughs is a good place to start is all, plenty of info on him, tons of documentaries, wrote lots of books & had many adventures most couldn't
    even dream of...

    you like alan watts don't you (has a heavy eastern influence to him innit, which is quite nice) whereas burroughs is a purely western man/version;
the same/similar wisdom & understanding albeit in very different terms,
and a very interesting contrast for the discerning eye...

think of it this way... nature just scatters its dna in a full/wide
spectrum, from moron to genius in human terms, all quite accidentally and
at random but it covers the field, the majority hovering at around the
average mark in terms of intelligence & awareness; average health, average lives etc... something which basically means/implies that 2/3rds of the
human race is thus of average intelligence & below, versus another third
of increasingly brighter sparks, only very few of which are right up there
    in the genius bracket...

the average bunch do have the opportunity though to also reach up there to genius level, but they have to reach it deliberately instead of just accidentally, they have to expand their awareness to do so...

and some peeps have done that + left records of their discoveries ;)

smile, if you're lookin' for people who can actually walk on water then
you might be lookin' in the wrong place heh, but in terms of
'metaphorically' walking on water there's been dozens!

    this isn't easy to understand/read...

yes but....... what are all of us *doing* here?

what purpose is all of this?

    ### - a purpose only the universe itself fully understands, but from our
pov a simple twist of fate no less and no more; a damn one-time lucky shot which most people are encouraged to piss-up the proverbial wall...

not to just build 747's and

60 billion smart phones is it? slaves of evolution ?

    ### - slaves of our own collective + very mundane thinking is all; that's
not 'life' that's just the cruddy crap we've made of it all; nature
doesn't tell us 'what' to do, it just puts us here and let's us get on
with it... and so, in a brilliant turn of imagination, we turned it into a damned factory hehe, go figure...

great, sign me up for another life oh Jesus. can i come

back as Babe Ruth? or maybe a Mike Trout.

    ### - screw that; once is plenty enough! LOL

(come back for what; to do/learn this all over again? what for?? maybe
might learn it a bit quicker is all, but that's about all...)

otoh, maybe some people are sooo s-l-o-w that it takes 'em 10,000
lifetimes to finally get their act together huh...

    hahaha may be :)
