None of the Etudes in the set have a key signature. Etude No 4 sounds like
it is in the mode E Phrygian? There is no time signature and there are no individual measures. The lines in the sheet have been numbered for
reference purposes only. Each '.' represents a 16th note.
The MIDI is provided to help with the pitch and the rhythm, but should not
be used as a guide to how the piece is interpreted.
line 1 - a whole note (= 4 quarter notes)
line 2 - 8 groups of 3 x 16th notes
line 3 - a half note tied to the 1st of a group of 8 x 32nd notes
line 4 - a whole note followed by a half note
line 5 - 8 groups of 3 x 16th notes (the notes are the same as in line 2)
line 6 - a half note tied to the 1st of a group of 20 notes, starting with an
eighth note, each note becoming shorter, finishing with a 32nd note line 7 - 2 whole notes, the 2nd a quarter note later than the start of the 1st line 8 - 8 groups of 3 x 16th notes
line 9 - a quarter note tied to the 1st of a group of 18 notes, starting with
a 32nd note, each note becoming longer, finishing with an eighth note line 10 - a group of 4 x 1/16th notes followed by a whole note
