    Notes and Legend
    ----------------
    [literal translation from the Italian]
    "klangbild 1 is an interesting interpretive piece. Of reduced technical difficulty, however, it develops the use of interpretative resources such as dynamics and articulation. Although the composer does not indicate any tempo, the melody character demands a slow / medium tempo, since it is a piece that brings us to a somewhat nostalgic 'image'.
    This Klangbild is divided into three sections. It is interesting to note that it is possible to consider that the melody is only present in the bass
    (E, D, C...) but can also be understood as the first two beats of each measure (E, G, B, D, G, B ...). Either way, it is important that the three notes themselves are not played by the same firm, suggesting that I unravel that leads
    us to the disappearance of the note (echo). The second section is a development of the first, albeit in a sharper register. In both sections, the legato is quite important and the balance of the notes to each other as well, since the writing presented has arpeggio characteristics. Also at the legato level, it is important to note that sometimes there is a need to have left fingers of the left hand on the string so that the notes in question remain in your ears so as not to create breaks.
    The last section is clearly cadential, with a gesture that appears low on, growing and then rests on the last chords of the piece."
    (from '24 Klangbilder - Imagens sonoras' - Carlo Domeniconi)

    [from the notes accompanying the sheet music]
    "Sound figures are a series of small musical pieces indicating forms which as well are to be found in more complex compositions. Therefore they are not to be understood as fragments or sketches but as "Images" or "Figures" preparing most efficiently - because of their shortness and technical facility - the later playing of more complex works." (Carlo Domeniconi, 1989)

    The sheet music does not have a key signature or a time signature, but the piece is centered around the key of Em and is in 4/4 time.
    The tempo of the Norbert Neunzling vid and the MIDI is 120 bpm (quarter notes).

    Notes and Legend
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    [from '24 Klangbilder - Imagens sonoras' - Carlo Domeniconi (Berlin 1989)]
    "A principal caracteristica a destacar deste Klangbild sera a diferenca entre
    o motivo inicial, que e escrito a uma voz apenas, e que e desenvolvido posteriormente em duas vozes, a partir da sugestao inicial, com os finais em cadencias bem marcadas atraves da articulacao. A dificuldade fumndamental reside
    em separar as voxes, preocupacao que o compositor parece ter muito em conta ao longo de toda esta serie, sendo que nestas pecas a simplicidade das posicoes de mao esquerda pode libertar mais facilmente o interprete para essa preocupacao." [an approximate English translation from the Portugese]
    "The main feature of this Klangbild will be the difference between the initial motive, which is written with one voice, and which is developed later in two voices, from the initial theme, ending in well-marked cadences through the articulation. The fundamental difficulty lies in separating the voices, a concern that the composer seems to take into account throughout this series, and in these parts the simplicity of the positions of the left hand can more easily free the interpreter from this concern."
    [from the notes accompanying the sheet music - Carlo Domeniconi]
    "Sound figures are a series of small musical pieces indicating forms which as well are to be found in more complex compositions. Therefore they are not to be understood as fragments or sketches but as 'Images' or 'Figures' preparing most efficiently - because of their shortness and technical facility - the later playing of more complex works."
    "...although the pieces are very easy to play, they demand a lot of control over dynamic and sound, so there is quite a lot to learn from this work." (Norbert Neunzling)
    The sheet music does not have a key signature or a time signature, but the piece is centered around Am and appears to be in 3/4 time. The tempo of the MIDI and the Norbert neunzling video is 180 bpm (quarter notes).
    Notes and Legend
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    O subtitulo e elucidativo: a procura do meu final. Se o Da Capo faz completo sentido, o mesmo nao se pode afirmar do final, que resulta completamente inconclusivo, obrigando o interprete, tal como no Klangbild 10, a criar recursos para resolver este problema."
    [an approximate, fairly literal translation from the Portugese into English] "Being the second part of this work that has a subtitle, this Klangbold is possible more demanding in terms of interpretation, without however having technical difficulties, [such as are found] in this collection of pieces.
    It is all written as counterpoint in two voices, with very few tonal resting points and it keeps the voices following a parallel path, not always in harmony, but at the same time not conflicting with the direction of the almost independent phrasing. The subtitle is elucidative: the search for an end.
    If Da Capo makes sense, the same cannot be said of the end, which is completely inconclusive, forcing the interpreter, as in Klangbild 10, to find creative ways of solving the problem."

    [from the notes accompanying the sheet music - Carlo Domeniconi]
    "Sound figures are a series of small musical pieces indicating forms which as well are to be found in more complex compositions. Therefore they are not to be understood as fragments or sketches but as 'Images' or 'Figures' preparing most efficiently - because of their shortness and technical facility - the later playing of more complex works."

    "...although the pieces are very easy to play, they demand a lot of control over dynamic and sound, so there is quite a lot to learn from this work." (Norbert Neunzling)

    As is indicated by the sub-title ("Search for an end"), it is left to the performer to decide where to end the piece. The MIDI follows the Norbert Neunzling reference video, which after returning to the start, ends on the first beat of measure 13 (the interval A-A).

    The sheet music does not have a key signature or a time signature, but the piece is centered around A minor and appears to be in 2/2 time.

    Notes and Legend
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    [from '24 Klangbilder - Imagens sonoras' - Carlo Domeniconi (Berlin 1989)] "Este Klangbilder e uma peca com alguma complexidade, quer ao nivel da interpretacao como tecnico. Tal como varios dos Klangbilser, aparenta uma simplicidade que a apenas derivada a simplicidade da escrita: melodia e acompanhamento e figuras ritmicas regulares. Contudo, revela-se dificil a
    nivel ritmico, uma vez que existe a alternancia constante entre 3/4 e 4/4.
    Esta instabilidade ritmica cria uma anacrusa nos compassos quaternarios e que, caso nao seja bem interpretada, pode comprometer a conducao das frases. E uma peca que requer um bom dominio do legato, uma vez que, por diversas vezes, existem notas longas no acompanhamento em que e necessario deixar o(s) dedo(s) da mao esquerado, sem prejudicar, no entanto, a fluencia da melodia."
    [an approximate, fairly literal translation from the Portugese into English] "This Klangbilder is a piece with some complexity, both in interpretation and technically. Like many of the Klangbilser, it appears to be a simplicity that is only derived from the simplicity of the writing: melody and accompaniment and regular rhythmic figures. However, it proves difficult at a rhythmic level, ince there is a constant alternation between 3/4 and 4/4. This rhythmic instability creates an anacruse [an unstressed note at the star of the measure] which, if not well interpreted, can interfere with the playing of the phrases. It is a piece that requires a good mastery of the legato, since, several times, there are long notes in the accompaniment in which it is necessary to leave the finger(s) of the left hand, but without affecting the fluency of the melody."
    [from the notes accompanying the sheet music - Carlo Domeniconi]
    "Sound figures are a series of small musical pieces indicating forms which as well are to be found in more complex compositions. Therefore they are not to be understood as fragments or sketches but as 'Images' or 'Figures' preparing most efficiently - because of their shortness and technical facility - the later playing of more complex works."
    "...although the pieces are very easy to play, they demand a lot of control over dynamic and sound, so there is quite a lot to learn from this work." (Norbert Neunzling)
