Might sound a bit radical in this newsgroup, but heres a question about guitars.

A couple of years ago I got hold of a Martin DX1KA series electro
acoustic, and I recently noticed that the action was quite high.

I went looking for the truss rod to adjust it, and .....

I can't find it. It looks as if the truss rod nut is just missing. I
have what I am told is the correct 5mm ball end hex Allen key, and it
just seems to bottom out against some wood. Theres no sound like any
    metallic contact with anything.

Has anybody come across anything like this before ?

I have come across a missing truss rod nut before, though I could see
that it was missing (Fender treble end of neck type).

A luthier ought to be able to get hold of the correct hex nut and get it
    into place, I'd suggest.
