who asked for a sequel to the first film?

spoilers for the first film... in the first there was a supposedly alive
creepy doll, turned out there was a really creepy man hiding in the
walls moving it about the house.

so in this sequel inevitably all that is thrown away and the doll
appears to be alive.


katie holmes and her husband and son move to the countryside after
naughty burglars break into their luxurious home and bonk her over the head. this renders the son mute, curiously he's played by the kid who played
martin in gotham who was also mute - maybe that's his acting speciality,
not speaking.

the boy finds the doll buried in the woods and takes it home, soon
enough he's obsessed over it, laying down house rules to his parents.

being a soppy pair the parents dont give him a slap and throw the doll
away, the indulge their son instead hoping it will cause him to speak again.

all the usual cliched things happen with the kid becoming progressively creepier and the doll menacing the family.

all stuff and nonsense, here's hoping there's not a part 3.
